If a patient is a candidate and chooses long-term corrective care as a treatment program then the primary goal is not only to relieve the symptoms but to continue care to make x-ray changes.

As with short-term relief care the first step is spinal analysis for the detection of vertebral subluxation (misalignment of the spine) by the use of x-rays. The treatment once again consists of spinal adjustments, therapy and specific exercises. The difference between short-term relief care and long-term corrective care is time. Long-term corrective care not only treats the symptoms but the treatment continues to ultimately correct or improve the subluxation demonstrated on the x-rays.

Long-term corrective care is very structured. Specific treatment time frames will be recommended to patients for their particular condition depending on the severity of misalignment and how much degenerative change has occurred.

Follow-up x-rays are taken at specific intervals during the program to check progress and at the end of the program to see the final results.

It should be noted that follow-up x-rays are only taken of the areas of the spine that subluxation is present. We always consider the safety of our patients first and want to limit and monitor the amount of x-ray exposure.

It is important to consider long-term corrective care as a treatment option because the closer your spine is to normal alignment then the better your nervous system will function and the healthier you will become.
